      Bennie Vance Boyce, 89, of the 100 block of Lynn Drive, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003.

      A native of Ryland, N.C., Mr. Boyce was retired from Berkley Machine Works after 45 years as a machinist. He was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for 40 years.

      He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Grace V. Boyce; one daughter, Nancy Boyce Jorgenson and her husband Jim of Ruckersville, Va.; one stepson, Edward L. Sawyer and his wife Cheryl; one brother, Gordon W. Boyce of Tyner, N.C.; onegrandson, Michael S. Jorgenson; and four step grandsons, Chip Sawyer, Jason Sawyer, Chris Sawyer and Jonathan Sawyer.

      Funeral services will be held at Snellings Funeral Home Churchland Chapel on Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Terry Taylor. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30p.m.
