      Deceased Name: Claxton M. Doughtie
      PORTSMOUTH - Claxton M. "Pete" Doughtie, 83, passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2007, in his residence. Pete was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Eure, N.C. He retired from the quality assurance department of Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

      He is survived by his loving wife of more than 63 years, Dorothy C. Doughtie; a daughter, Bonnie Lynn Doughtie; a son, Thomas M. Doughtie and wife Donna; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Bettie Lou Sadler; and abrother, William E. Doughtie and wife Doris.

      A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Paul Lawson. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

      In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Parkview Baptist Church, 225 Hatton St., Portsmouth, VA 23704, for the Lottie Moon Missionary Offering.
