      Frost, John Eldridge. Colonial Village. Published originally by The Gundalow Club, Inc., Kittery Point, Maine. Republished by the Kittery Historical Society, Kittery, York, ME. The Cabinet Press, Inc., Milford, NH, 1980: Resided inPortsmouth, Boston, and Liverpool, ENGLAND. He was a seacaptain who commanded his own ship at age 23. These Penhallow's lived 12 years at Sparhawk Hall (built 1742). They purchased it from Elizabeth Stark Newell of Boston, who kept itonly two years. The Penhallow's sold it in 1869 to Walter Richard BROWN, a Toronto banker who soon turned it over to his English born wife Jane Selina AKRILL Brown. The Brown's had no children. [2]
