    Gender Male
Occupation a business man as indicated by his following tombstone inscription, but the nature of his business still eludes me. After a long and distressing illness which he bore with manly fortitude, he departed this life much lamented. In the lineof his business which he carried on with persevering industry in the space of 30 years, he was respected as the head. His patriotic disposition led him forth at the earliest stage of that Revolution which gave freedom and independence tothe country of his birth, commencing his military services in the private station from which he advanced by regular progression until he obtained a majority in the Charleston Ancient Batallion of Artillery with other marks of publicconfidence and esteem of which he was ever found deserving, especially as an honest and Patriot member of the Legislature of this state of which he was returned from this City for 15 years successfully."
