151 "Tradition says that John Hopkins came to South Carolina with money and race horses, so he probably sold most of his posessions before leaving Georgia. It is quite evident that John and Sarah Thomas Hopkins followed her family to SouthCarolina. By 1760, John Thomas, Sr., had acquired grants of land (800 acres) in the Pincushion on Back Swamp where John Thomas, Jr., had also settled. John and Sarah probably arrived in the autumn of 1762 and lived with the Thomasesuntil John could choose a site for a home and apply for a grant. The birth of David Hopkins, their first child, in February of 1763, presumably took place at the Thomas home in the Pincushion." Thomas, Sarah (I20262)
